Grandchild in trouble!

Today, my big question is:  How do you help a grandchild who is going down the wrong road .  One of my grandchildren is really in trouble.. This grandchild thinks drug are cool. I have tried and tried to help. But they won't listen.  I am at my wits end. I know people have to make their own mistakes, but this mistake can be fatal. I pray on  it. But I feel so lost at how to help.  All comments are welcome.

My advice would be to sit down and talk with him, but more importantly...LISTEN TO HIM!

It may take awhile for him to come out and tell you what is deep inside, but if you are patient and truly want to hear him and not try to fix him, he will eventually trust you and possibly share his troubles with you.

We all want to be heard and not preached to, as my daughter has told me so many times, but I never truly listened...I do now!

Patience, much love and understanding. Accepting that person for who they are and letting them know you love them unconditionally is ooo important. Punishing, condemning, it will just push them farther into it.Frank, open discussions without cutting them down I find to be a major thing. I agree with your friend who also commented. We ALL make bad choices and sometimes it is ok to share them with someone so they know they are not alone.Let them be honest with you without fear of you looking at them badly. Good luck. Sending prayers your way.
