Theron Oliver Page (11/26/1915 to 06/25/2009)

This is in memory of Leigh's dad. Theron Oliver Page who passed away June 25 2009. He was the sweetest man I ever met and he treated everyone special. He had a talent with wood and he made everything from furniture to doll houses, doll furniture and toys. I remember when he came to our house in Owego to help us fix it up how he made sure everything was just perfect. He always made it perfect or he didn't do it. He never cared how long it took as long as it was right.

Leigh said when he was a kid his dad would work out in his shop making the kids Christmas presents. They called it Santa workshop and you better not sneak in to see what he was making.
Leigh's kids have tons of toys their grandfather made for them. And when we moved into an RV Leigh gave his kids furniture his dad made.

When I married Leigh he made my daughters dollhouses and a hope chest for me. He always treated me special. I am forever grateful for all his kindness to me and my girls.

When Leigh and I was in Florida the last two winters we went daily to see his dad and we treasure that special time we had with him. Leigh would make him laugh and you could tell he loved it when we came. He would eat the best for Leigh and then second for me. But Leigh got him to exercise his body and his mind and he really perked up when we were there.

He made us laugh sometimes so hard our sides would ache. All the nurses and staff at Avante Nursing home where he was loved him. He was quite the ladies man with the nurses always smiling and waving to them. There was one male Nurse name Kelly and he would always smile and wave to him and Kelly would salute him and make him smile so.

I know he went to heaven because the man was all goodness and kindness. And I am not saying this because he passed. He was just the sweetest nicest person. He is so loved by all his family and all those who knew him. I wish I could be there with family when he is buried tomorrow but Leigh is there with all his family and friends saying their good-byes.

And I am here saying mine. Good-bye Grandpa Page. You will be missed by us all. You made quite the impression on all those who were lucky enough to know you and I for one am so grateful I was one of them. Thank you for blessing my life with your example of how people should treat each other. And thank you for loving me as your sons wife, and treating me like I was your daughter also. Good-bye sweet man. Hope you enjoy being back with Ruth your wife and all your family in heaven waiting for you. God Bless!

A good friend of Leigh and I sent this poem so I am adding it.

DO NOT STAND AT MY GRAVE AND WEEP
I AM NOT THERE, I DO NOT SLEEP
I AM THE THOUSAND WINDS THAT GENTLY BLOW;
I AM THE DIAMOND GLINT ON THE NEW-FALLEN SNOW;
I AM THE SUNSHINE ON FIELDS OF RIPENED GRAIN;
I AM SEPTEMBER'S SILVER, SLANTING RAIN;
I AM THE SAND-BIRDS ON THE SHORE IN MAY;
I AM THE SEA-GULLS CIRCLING FOR THEIR PREY;
WHEN YOU AWAKEN IN THE MORNING'S HUSH;
I AM THE SWIFT, UPLIFTING RUSH
OF WILD GEESE ON THEIR HOMEWARD FLIGHT;
I AM THE TWINKLING STAR IN THE SKY AT NIGHT;
SO DO NOT STAND AT MY GRAVE AND CRY;
I AM NOT THERE, I DID NOT DIE.

THANK YOU MAY, FOR THIS POEM TO REMEMBER HIM.

Nice old houses in Maine

Since we have been here in Maine we have seen some neat old houses from Stephen Kings 2 houses to Lighthouses to houses in the many downeast towns. But Maine does have some nice houses.

Day with fellow workampers!

We drove to bar Harbor yesterday for a day with friends. Jon, Kathleen and Sharon. All workampers in Maine. We enjoyed a great BBQ dinner at Mainely Meats BBQ. It's right next to the Atlantic brewing company.

We then went to a wine tasting at one of the local wineries. Bar Harbor Cellars at Sweet Pea Farms. It was a fun day even though it rained at internals during the day.

It was so nice getting together with friends for a nice day in Maine in the rain.

Girls Day Out Camden, Maine

What a wonderful girls day out we had. We went to Camden Maine a little fishing village with lots of shops and cafes. We ate lunch on the dock of lobster and crab rolls, before we boarded The Schooner Olad. This was our first time on a windjammer. We wanted to see the Curtis Island Light. The best way to see it was from a boat. So off went went. While in the harbor is was nice and warm but as we went future out to sea it got cold and we were not really dress for it so the captain gave us blankets and me a jacket. We got to see seals and we learned about a hermit from the Vietnam War, who lived on one of the islands. We saw lobster boat catching the catch for the day. We enjoyed the ride even though it was a bit cold.

We then came in and had hot chocolate at one of the cafes on the water then went shopping. After that we headed home with a stop along one of the beaches for finding rocks for the grandma garden at Joy's house, and for Theresa to adventure out on a rock breaker wall just before high tide. We laughed and enjoyed each other's company on the trip home. I think it was one of the best times Theresa and I have ever had together. It was a wonderful bonding moment. One I will remember forever. I hope while I am in Maine we will have more times like these.

Atlantic Brewing Company

On our way back from the Bass Harbor light we stopped and took a tour of the Atlantic Brewing Company. In bar harbor Maine. The tour guide was so funny. But he explained how all the beer was made and they also made Rootbeer and Blueberry soda. The best part of course was the tasting. Since I am not much of a beer drinker Leigh got double the samples from about 8 different beers so needless to say he was loving this unexpected stop. They also have a little cafe outside the brewery that has BBQ. So our next trip to Bar Harbor that is where we are eating.

Bass Harbor Light ride

What a fun day we had today! The sun finally came out so we took a day trip to the Bass Harbor Lighthouse, then we stopped in South West Harbor and shopped. Went to a bakery and got tomorrow mornings breakfast and then we went to Biels on the harbor for my first Maine lobster. It was just a lobster we picked out of tank and the cooked it wrapped it wax paper and gave it to me. not exactly how I had pictured I wanted my lobster but it was sweet and it was $13.00 when all of us out for the big lobster feast it will be much more expensive. But we had a wonderful day and on the way home we stopped in Bar Harbor and toured the Atlantic Brewing Company.

Day of adventure Arcadia and Bar Harbor

Well, we had a sunny day and a day off, so we went on a day adventure. First we drove to Bar Harbor and did some shopping. I got a necklace to go with a pair of earrings my friend Joan made for me, and a pottery too toothpick holder and a couple of Christmas presents. We ate in the Fish Grille on the deck. Then we drove to Arcadia national Park and went up Cadillac Mountain for spectacular views then on to sandy beach where I saw a sword fish jump and then on to Thunder Hole where the waves are suppose to make a roaming thunder when they splash in the hole but there weren't many waves and no thunder. But it was a wonderful day with the sun shining and we just enjoyed the park and Maine.
